Szumark started as a personal project—just a simple tool to help our founder track supermarket specials and compare prices while shopping. It worked so well that we realized other Australians might find it useful too. So we refined it, polished it up, and released it to the public. Since then, we’ve been continuously improving Szumark to make grocery shopping a little easier for everyone.
Where the name comes from
The name was born during a trip to Hungary. In Hungarian, “supermarket” is szupermarket—and that sparked the idea. “Szu” is a nod to the Hungarian word, while “mark” reflects what the app does: helping you mark and track the best deals.
Our mission
Szumark is built by Chautec, an Australian company that creates free, practical software for everyday use. We believe useful tools shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls—they should be accessible to everyone.
To keep Szumark free and running, we include minimal advertising to cover hosting and development costs. These ads help us maintain the platform and keep improving it, while ensuring it stays free for all users.
Thank you for using Szumark and supporting our mission to build software that works for people, not profits.
