What started as a simple tool for personal use quickly proved its value, and after recognizing its broader potential, it was refined and eventually published for the general public. Since then, Szumark has continued to grow, with ongoing improvements aimed at making it a helpful, everyday resource for shoppers across Australia.
The name Szumark was sparked while the founder/developer was on a trip to Hungary. In Hungarian, “supermarket” is szupermarket—and from that, Szumark was born. The “Szu” pays tribute to the Hungarian word, while “mark” reflects the app’s purpose: helping users mark and track the best deals.
Szumark was created by Chautec, a company that builds free, practical software to serve the public. We believe that everyday tools should be accessible to everyone—without locking features behind paywalls.
To keep the app running and free for all users, we include minimal advertising to help cover hosting and development costs. These ads support the sustainability of the platform while allowing us to continue improving the app and keeping it up to date.
